A Cookie
Concert
Saturday February 23, 2008
4:00 PM
THE LISTENER
The conductor has planned
to present a concert exploring the many art forms in which
the orchestra is involved, but his efforts are complicated
by the unexpected participation of two overtly enthusiastic
spectators. A bugle playing mime who wants to sing opera and
a tap dancing ballerina are just part of the conductor's comic
dilemma as two zany characters bring "the art of listening" to
life.

CARMINA
BURANA
Orff's Carmina
Burana has been used to advertise coffee and perfume,
to rouse the spirit at football games, can be heard in rap
music and has been heard
in many commercials and movies.
Carmina Burana does indeed
seem indestructible, but who originally wrote these strange
songs in Latin and old German? What are they all about and
how did they become the enduring legacy of a 20th century German
composer?
